Health & Safety
At Getjar, there’s nothing more important than the safety of our staff and the people around our sites. That’s why we’re proud to be one of the first sub-contractors to put dedicated safety managers on sites. Our ‘Red Hat’ safety coordinators are directly involved in the day-to-day operations of our projects, informing our approach to every situation with a hands-on attitude. We’re always ahead of the game on health and safety, looking to improve our processes and hear responding to feedback from our employees at every turn.
Since our inception, we’ve invested heavily in training and acquiring new equipment to improve our health and safety procedures. Our full time health and safety department provides our site teams with excellent support, and our efforts have meant that one of the biggest insurance companies in the world have formally recognised Masterson Holdings and its subsidiaries as delivering ‘over and above’ health and safety legislation.
In addition to these initiatives, we recognise the importance of improving mental health safety across the construction industry. In response to a 2017 vote by the Health in Construction Leadership Group to focus on improving the mental wellbeing of its workforce, we joined the Mates in Mind scheme to provide a collaborative approach to support and services, working directly with our staff members to address their concerns and needs. Our aim in our approach to mental health is to:
- Raise awareness of mental health issues across the group and our workforce;
- Help people understand how, when and where they can get support through our trained Mental First Aiders;
- Break the stigma of mental health by promoting a culture of positive wellbeing across the group.
Getjar, and Masterson Holdings as a group, is passionate about improving the safety and wellbeing of the industry at large. That’s why we’re in direct communication with industry supply leaders to make suggestions on industry-wide products and approaches to health and safety. Our origins as a family company committed to keeping lines of communication with our staff members and the construction industry at large continues to this day.
