Training
In line with our ethos of continual improvement, we established our in-house training centre in 2014. This allows us to continue to invest in our colleagues and shape the future of the construction sector.
The centre helps us to maintain a fully trained, competent workforce that supports sites across all our divisions. By taking an active role in training our staff, we can continue to deliver safe, high-quality projects across our region.
Our training centre has a role in many other aspects of our business. It helps our sites to meet Social Value targets by arranging and monitoring apprenticeship provisions for the business. It also makes sure that competency cards, licences and training courses are up-to-date across the workforce.
Accredited by NOCN to deliver CSkills qualifications, the centre can train employees in Level 2 & 3 NVQs relevant to their trade. Through on-site assessment and training, our workforce gains their knowledge through direct experience.
The centre is also accredited by CITB as an Approved Training Organisation (ATO), allowing us to deliver internal H&S courses to the workforce across all our sites.
The centre was created in 2014 to deliver the "Working at Height" course, which remains one of the most in-demand courses in our sector of the industry. Since then, the centre has gradually added more safety training courses to its curriculum to expand and improve training provisions for our workforce.
The courses we currently deliver internally include:
- Working Safely at Height
- Safety in the Use of Abrasive Wheels
- Manual Handling
- Safe Use of Power Tools
- Traffic Marshalling
- Fire Marshalling
The centre continues to explore opportunities to add new courses to its curriculum.
The centre is also an accredited CITB Site Safety Plus Centre, allowing us to deliver CITB's Health & Safety Awareness course and its Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme (SEATS) Courses.
